Greencastle Antrim Primary School Title 1 School Đ Parent Compact 2017-18 The Greencastle Antrim Primary School and the parents of the students participating in Title I, Part A of the ESEA, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the StateŐs high standards. This school parent compact is in effect during school year 2017-18 The Greencastle Antrim Primary School will: 1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the StateŐs student academic achievement standards as follows: -Provide highly qualified teachers and staff to work with participating children -Provide core and intervention programs designed to meet the various academic needs of participating children -Provide on-going assessment and adjust childrenŐs programs to maximize academic growth 2. Hold parent teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual childŐs achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held on November 1, 2, 3 and February 15, 2018. 3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their childrenŐs progress. Specifically, the school will provide Title I progress reports after the second, fourth and sixth marking periods. 4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents by appointment between 8:15 and 3:45. Parents are welcome to send notes, e-mails or phone during school hours. 5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their childŐs class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows: We, as parents, will support our childrenŐs learning in the following ways: 1. Model reading and writing at home. 2. Provide interesting and appropriate books from the library/bookstore and read them with our children. 3. Practice letters and words at home using magnetic letters, games, computer programs, and writing. 4. Limit TV time and provide opportunities for well-rounded activities, such as outdoor play. 5. Write stories at home about family and individual experiences. 6. Give each child time with apparent one on one. 7. Recognize and praise each childŐs achievements.
